In this contemporary satire, Mr. Burke, a marketing expert assigned to “put a face” to the Dotzweiller Corporation (parent company to over 300 subsidiary brands). His study lands him in the home of Lewis and Lois, a young couple who subscribe to the Dotzweiller periodical club. As the study unfolds over the course of several weeks, Lois becomes entranced by the spell of the consumer lifestyle embodied by Mr. Burke, while her husband Lewis is pushed to the brink of insanity.
The Subscription was staged in 2001 by Trade City Productions in Santa Monica, CA.
