The center square shows the picture itself. Once you get it, it's no longer over your head.

I have a lamp on a table that is below me...it has a light bulb in it, also below me. I realize you are trying to turn a light bulb, arbitrary at that, into the symbol of "idea", but that can be construed, or misconstrued--therefore it invalidates the entire "riddle". Best always, W.
What is CONNECTING all the Images is the Image in the very CENTER !!! It's an Image of the Outer Image ... It connects all the images ...
When you "Got It' THAT CENTER IMAGE is no longer needed ... the images can stand on their own.
The other thing, "Things That Are Above Your Head" could very well be "They are all WHITE Images in a Field Colored a Light Shade of Blue" ... these are Commonalities & Similarities NOT the "connection between them" Riddles are TriCkY because they usually have a LITERAL aspect about them ... GET IT ???

It strikes me as an illustration of infinity. It goes on and on and on, and when you zoom in, it feels as if the only thing that held back the illustrator was the pixel size... So my answer would've been infinity, hehe.
