A Big Picture of Andromeda

In January, the Hubble telescope took 411 pictures of the Andromeda Galaxy (the Milky Way's galactic neighbor) and stitched them together into one ginormous megaphoto that does an impressive job of communicating just how much stuff is out there in the universe.

Cool video, man. It's such a privilege that we get to enjoy this perspective. I was just looking at photos of Enceladus this morning in complete awe. Have you seen that shit? It's so amazing what has been accomplished on such a paltry budget.

That is intense. Never mind the depth of our Ocean, can you imagine in our finite understanding of how long it takes us to drive 500 miles even at 70 miles an hour. but to travel light years and not see anything until you get there. I can't think of anything that sound closer to Insanity.

It's all golden and blue! It made me find again the same wonder I use to feel when I was 5 and I looked into the depths of the Christmas tree baubles. It's 35 years I look for it. It has been in Andromeda all this time..

Curious of the bright object just to the right of the center of the photo. Is it in the foreground? Is it a smaller galaxy orbiting? Globular cluster?
